NBA Finals: Game 5 Recap
Written by: Treal Holland
The Golden State Warriors win game five 104-94 over the Boston Celtics moving one win away from their fourth championship in six years.
Wiggins showed up again in a big way scoring 26 points on 12-23FG along with 13 rebounds.
Wiggins sealed the win late in the fourth with an emphatic driving one-hand slam. Showing so much emotion after the play was a great sign for Warriors fans.
Even with fouling out for the third time this series Draymond Green looked more like the player we are used to finishing with 8 points, 8 rebounds & 6 assist. More importantly than the stat line was the way he looked on the floor tonight. Pushing the basketball in transition & playing the game with more energy.
Steph coming off his historic game four performance struggled in this game finishing with 16 points on a rough shooting night going 7-22FG & 0-9 from three. He did get 8 assists with only 1TO.
Gary Payton II was huge off the bench with his defense intensity but also chipping in with 15 points.
This is the first time in these playoffs that the Celtics will taste defeat in back-to-back games.
The Celtics had not lost consecutive games since March.
Turnovers continue to plague the Celtics in this series. They turned the basketball over18 times, which led to 22 points for the Warriors.
Jayson Tatum finished with a game high 27 points on 10-20FG & 5-9 from three. But looked tired late in the fourth as he & Jaylen Brown played the entire second half until the closing minutes. Tatum also grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest but will need more to hold off elimination in game 6.
Thursday, we head back to Boston for game 6 which we will either see the Celtics fight to keep their season alive or the Warriors will be celebrating another championship.
